Notably, Mr. Tan is the esteemed founder of the Omega Watch Club Singapore, boasting an impressive collection of over 700 watches. His remarkable passion for watch collecting is truly exceptional.
We are deeply honoured to have such a highly regarded collector join our ranks, and we believe that his association with Solitaire Official will elevate our brand to new heights. In a brief interview with George, let's delve into his responses to the following questions!
- Tell us more about yourself:
My name is George Tan. I have been collecting watches for almost 31 years. I am known in the watch scene or watch industry in Singapore as the Omega man cos I am a big Omega collector. To date I have close to 700 watches and of which 400 are Omegas.
I do collect other brands too. So long as the watch “speaks” to me and I can afford it, I will collect. I am lucky to have the support of my lovely wife who also love watches. We are known as the Omega watch couple.
- Which three watches from your collection are your personal favourite?
It’s hard to really say which are my fav pieces but if really I have to choose; it would be:
*My Original Omega ref.105.002 Speedmaster cal.321 from 1962*
It’s a transition model from CK2998 to ref.105.003 model and said to be in production for less than 1 year.
*My Patek Aquanaut ref.5167*
It’s modern, chic yet sporty — an all-rounder as an everyday watch.
*My Rolex blue dial sky-dweller*
It’s one of the most complicated movement produced by Rolex - annual calendar watch. Even though it’s an annual calendar, it is very easy to operate.
- What aspects of Solitaire's service, quality, or designs do you appreciate the most?
Solitaire Official’s boss Ren Yi is a self taught high end watch strap maker and his quest for perfection is next to none.
Solitaire Official uses some of the finest croco leather for their bespoke straps.
Even with the ready to wear range, not only are they high quality; they are also quick release straps which makes it convenient for customers to change straps by themselves.
- What factors influenced your decision to choose us over other options?
Honesty and attention to details. Taking pride in the straps that you make has given me confidence in Solitaire Official.
Also the straps are of highest quality yet good value.
- what are your aspirations and goals for your ambassadorship with Solitaire Official?
Through the collaboration with Solitaire Official, I hope more watch collectors and wearers alike, will understand that strap switching to complement their daily wardrobe can be easily accomplished and done by themselves; especially with the quick-release mechanisms.
Even with a single watch, there are more ways to express one’s personality and mood through good quality strap choice, which comes in different materials and colours offered by Solitaire Official.
